DESOLATION SOUND
Week Two

What a great week two to our Desolation cruise. From Refuge Cove to Prideaux Haven and anchoring in Melanie Cove. Perfect seas and weather for this trip. This haven has a variety of coves for anchoring and is a great for exploring by dinghy or kayak.
An overnight here and the following day found the skippers watching their tide schedules for the best time to transit a drying bar into Roscoe Bay, our next destination.
Most boats arrived 2-3 pm with 6-7 feet of water to spare over the bar into Roscoe Bay for a variety of anchoring or stern tying. A quiet night. Jordan Barbecued a cake for Kerry's birthday (Barb too) and a small party was held on Sounder. At the end of Roscoe Bay there is a logging road that takes you for a short walk to Black lake, renown for for swimming. You'll note some members decided this was a "clothing optional" beach!
Happy hour on Sounder and the next day found some boats headed for Squirrel Cove to provision, some to Refuge for fuel, and some to Teakerne Arm for the falls.
Everyone in Squirrel Cove (Cortes Island) on the gov't dock for Wednesday and a pot luck dinner for the remaining boats. Thursday cruise to Gorge Harbour on the other side of Cortes Island where some will hop home and others will continue their cruise.
The weather for the full cruise has been outstanding. The first time we have encountered rain and a touch of fog is today, Friday Sept 19th on the docks at Gorge. See the pic and enjoy more photos to come as they are processed.
Cheers and many thanks to Jenny and her co-cruise directors Daryll & Dave.
